Engage with your client to determine food preferences, food allergies, and the existence of health conditions that would affect food intake (ie diabetes).

Always try to cook nutritious meals but be mindful to not overcook so that there isn’t too much food that might get wasted, however, some clients may ask that you prepare enough food so that there are leftovers for the next day.

A client that has dementia or other cognitive impairment may forget to eat, so it is important to ask you client if they have eaten throughout the day.
